Recordando El Origen is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, registered and operating in Borikén, Puerto Rico. Our purpose is to develop and sustain educational, community, and cultural initiatives focused on human development, character building, collective responsibility, and the creation of a more conscious, just, and caring society.
The organization serves as an institutional structure dedicated to restoring ancestral relationships between local communities and their territory, water, and biocultural heritage. Our work integrates ecological conservation, territorial sovereignty, intergenerational education, and the revitalization of traditional Caribbean herbalism, with a focus on land rematriation and decolonizing access to ancestral healing practices.
We believe that healing our relationship with the land is healing our relationship with ourselves. To that end, we weave alliances across the Caribbean and Abya Yala (North and South America), nurturing ancestral ecology and sustaining spaces of communal healing.

Boicicani
founder and Executive director
Boicicani is a wisdom keeper from Borikén (Puerto Rico), carrying within her lineage the wisdom and resilience of her Afro-Caribbean Taíno ancestors and spiritist healers. This ancestral inheritance guides her path as a medicine woman, seeker, and carrier of tradition. Through this initiative, she envisions a cultural and spiritual reclamation that supports collective healing, belonging, and ancestral wisdom preservation. Her teachings are deeply rooted in ancestral knowledge inherited from her grandmothers, teachers, and elders. She incorporates ancestral healing, somatic practices, trauma-informed care, theosophy, and ancestral wisdom to support the reclaiming of Indigenous Science.

Walker Mort
Director of development and operations
Walker Mort is a facilitator of men’s work, medicine journeys, authentic relating practices, and conflict mediation. He holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, and is the cofounder of SolEs men's group.
Salvador Verduzco
Education PRogram associate
Salvador Verduzco M.S., L.Ac.: Salvador has been practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine as an acupuncturist in Los Angeles for the past 16 years, operating his own clinic since 2015. Over the course of his own healing journey, he has studied indigenous medicine with the Matsés in Peru and the Mhuysqa in Colombia. Working with ancestral energetic practices, Salvador believes it is important to honor and cultivate the roots and understanding handed down by the elders over generations. Salvador’s passion is to share ancestral energetic techniques to help people remember their true spiritual selves and tap into their full potential.
